Art is the illegitimate child of love and reality.

Art is going to solve all of the problems we never had.

    Art is cool.

    About Michalis

Michalis Langas is a Greek writer and director based in London. He makes surreal comedies for screens of various sizes.

By day he is a mild-mannered Dr Jekyll of dentistry, with a special interest in implants. At night his cinematic Mr Hyde takes over. In his own words, cinema helps him sleep, and dentistry pays the rent for a place to sleep in.

Born in Lamia, he has been writing and directing short films since 2015, often shooting and editing them himself, first in Greece and now in the UK. His work grows out of a running argument between structure and aesthetics, one in which the aesthetics sometimes end up building the structure.

Benigni Exaggerated won Best Comedy-Dramedy at the London Independent Film Awards in 2019. His latest short, This Will Make You Sleep Instantly, starring Nikolaos Brahimllari (Gangs of London, Unforgotten) and Nikky Athan, is on the 2026 festival circuit. He is now developing a slate of short and long-form projects.
